JURIED EXHIBITION

April 12th - May 8th, 2010

 

ELIGIBILITY:  

This juried exhibit is an annual showcase of artwork created by Teaching Artist in the State of Colorado and is sponsored by the Colorado Art Education Association.  Any artist who teaches Art at any level is welcome to enter the show.  Teachers in training and those who have retired from teaching are also encouraged to participate.  This includes those who teach workshops and seminars.  All artwork must be original and completed in the last two years. 


MEDIA & SPECIFICATIONS:

All 2d and 3d works are eligible. Works exhibited at other CAEA exhibits are not eligible.  There are no size restrictions, however, shipped work must conform to UPS restrictions for size and weight: 130 inches girth plus length (crated) and 150 lbs. (crated).  Work must be properly framed with plexi-glass or prepared for exhibit. 

 

JURYING:

Jurying will be based on slides or digital images and will determine which works will be accepted for exhibition. The Luther Bean Museum reserves the right to reject any works which substantially depart from or were poorly represented in the slide.  Artist may submit up three works of art, which the two jurors will review.  One digital image for 2-D works.   Each 3-D work entered may include two images of the work. All slides must be clearly labeled with:  artist’s name, title, media, size: as well indicate top/front and number from entry form.   All digital images must be on a CD labeled with your name.   Each digital slide must have the image, entry number, title, media, and size.  Digital Images: * The resolution of images should be 150 DPI minimum; 300 DPI maximum.

* Images need to be of reasonable size (under 2mb is good)

Images should be between 1400 pixels at the shortest and 2000 pixels at the longest dimension. 1920×1920 pixel images are also acceptable. If you do not have image editing software, below are links to free online image editing applications:

NOTIFICATION:

Notification will be made by email.  Digital images of accepted work will become part of the Adams State College Slide Library.  Include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelop if you would like your CD returned.   ASC will not be responsible for lost or damaged CD’s although the up most care will be taken in handling.  Labels for accepted work, as well as information on drop off shipping, will be emailed to those accepted. 

 

INSURANCE & SHIPPING:

Accepted works will be insured while on the college premises.  Works in transit or those left at ASC after May 14th, 2010 will not be covered.  Artists are responsible for round trip shipping costs.  

 

SALES AND REPRODUCTIONS:

All proceeds from works sold will go directly to the artist.  If the artist would like to donate a percentage of their sale they may do so to the Luther Bean Museum.  The artist grants permission to reproduce accepted entries in publications and media for educational and publicity purposes. Entering this competition constitutes agreement with all conditions herein.

 

ENTRY PROCEDURES:

$20.00 (non-refundable) 3 entries for CAEA
$25.00 (non-refundable) 3 entries for non-members

 

Entrants should send:

  • Check or money order payable to CAEA.
  • Completed, and signed entry form. (Click Here to fill out an Entry Form.)
  • A digital Word Doc of your image list, included on your CD.
  • (Please include: your name, title of work, media, price, for sale or not for sale, your school, city, and district.)
  • You may submit up to three artworks, 1 digital image for each 2-D work and 1-2 digital images for each 3-D work.
  • Self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of CD.

CALENDAR:

  • Due: March 8th: Submitted Images and Entry Forms (DUE not Post Marked)
  • March 15th: Notification of Acceptance /Rejections will be sent via email.
  • Due: March 22nd through April 2nd: Work must be delivered to The Luther Bean Museum, 208 Edgemont Blvd, Adams State College, Alamosa, CO, 81102.  Work may be hand delivered or sent through the mail. Pick up sites for delivery to Alamosa will be set up through networking in the Denver and the Colorado Springs area. Possible pick up can be set up for the western slope. Watch the CAEA website for further information. Information about the delivery of artwork(s) will be sent via-email to accepted artists.
  • May 8th:  1:00-4:00 PM: Closing Reception and Pick up of Artwork.
  • All work MUST be picked up by May 14th, 2010.

 

*Instructions for hand delivery and pickup of work will be included with email notification.
